Cox-Ikeda Dialogue Published in Taiwan

TAIPEI, Taiwan: Publisher Cheng Yin Culture Enterprise has released a traditional Chinese edition of The Persistence of Religion: Comparative Perspectives on Modern Spirituality, a dialogue between Harvey Cox, former Hollis Research Professor of Divinity at Harvard University, and Daisaku Ikeda. In the dialogue, which was originally published by I.B. Tauris, the authors examine a wide range of topics, from religion and its capacity for inspiration and empowerment in the modern era, to the imperative of interfaith and inter-civilization discourse in building a genuinely global society.

Recognized as one of America’s foremost theologians, Professor Cox played a major role in advancing the U.S. civil rights movement led by Martin Luther King Jr. Professor Cox first met Mr. Ikeda when the latter delivered a speech at Harvard in 1991; he then served as a panelist reviewing Mr. Ikeda’s second Harvard lecture in 1993.
